Aruba's New Platform :: ESP

⏱️ Estimated reading time: Approx. 5 minutes (5 min read)

Each company plans and produces its products with its own unique values and philosophy. HPE Aruba is no exception.
Aruba was a wireless company started by founder Keerti Melkote.,
We have a philosophy of reducing the complexity of existing legacy environments and improving the user experience.

Based on this philosophy, Aruba has launched a new platform and framework.
As the name of this blog suggests, we live in an era where the Edge environment is crucial.
We need a smart platform that is suitable for these edge environments and can provide a better user experience.

Intelligent Edge?

If you look at IT planning articles in newspapers these days, you will see something called Intelligent Edge.

So what exactly is Edge?

The dictionary definition of edge is a corner or end of something.
However, in IT, Edge refers to the area where actual users (people or things) are in close contact.
For example, the PCs and mobile phones we use in our company offices, the automated machines in factories, and the machines in schools.
You can think of smart devices, medical devices in hospitals, etc. as equipment connected to the Edge.

We live in an era where data is paramount. Data is becoming a corporate asset and a new growth engine.
From the centralized data environment of the mainframe era to the distributed data environment of the personal computer era.
Again, with the advancement of mobility and cloud, data was being centralized in cloud data centers.

However, with the increase in IoT terminals, the number of terminals connected in the edge area is rapidly increasing.,
The amount of data generated and processed there is also increasing.
According to IDC, 55 billion devices will be connected to networks worldwide by 2022.
Gartner also predicts that half of all data will be created and processed outside of data centers or the cloud. So where will the other half be created and processed?

I suspect that the remaining half of the data will be generated and processed at the Edge.

That is, it is not the transmission infrastructure provided by the telecommunications company, but the cloud infrastructure owned by the cloud service provider.
The area where users directly use and experience the Edge area, how effectively, quickly, and safely we use it is becoming increasingly important.

A new but not new platform – ESP

As the importance of Edge increases, we need to connect terminals and users more efficiently and safely.
Smart management is becoming increasingly necessary. It's no longer enough for terminals to simply connect to the network and have users use them.

To achieve this, HPE Aruba has created a new platform called the Edge Service Platform (ESP).
But paradoxically, ESP is by no means new.
Already before Simple, Secure, SAruba plans and manufactures its products with the 3S philosophy of mart.

And this 3S philosophy is reborn with a new name in Aruba ESP.

  • Simple – Unified Infrastructure
  • Secure – Zero Trust Security
  • Smart – AIOps (Artificial Intelligence-Based Operations)

  • Overlay: Aruba's mobility controllers provide Policy Enforcement Firewall (PEF)와 ClearPassControl applications by applying customized policies based on terminal and user roles.
  • Application: In addition to the provisioning, orchestration, and monitoring required for network operation, it also provides analysis and troubleshooting through network self-diagnosis. AIOps features을 Aruba CentralProvided through .

Aruba ESP is not a new product or solution.
Simple yet secure, with AI-based smart operations.
Aruba ESP brings all of this together into a single framework and delivers it alongside your existing products.

Aruba ESP will enable you to use a more convenient, secure, and optimized network.
