Optimize connectivity for AI, SaaS, and IaaS workloads

⏱️ Estimated reading time: Approx. 5 minutes (5 min read)

past AWS re:Invent 2023Generative AI was at the center of many corporate presentations, technical sessions, and ongoing PR at .
Event attendees also asked many practical questions, including:.

“How can you help me streamline the process of integrating workloads with major public and SaaS cloud providers?”

is one of those questions, and AWS was one of them.

At re: Invent 2023, HPE focused on hybrid multi-cloud networking using HPE-Aruba Networking's EdgeConnect SD-WAN platform, which helps simplify multi-cloud networking integration with the top five public cloud providers.

actually HPE Aruba Networking offers EdgeConnect SD-WAN과 AWS Cloud WANThrough integration, we demonstrated how enterprises can leverage SD-WAN to easily connect from colocation data centers to the cloud, delivering modern edge-to-cloud integration.

Also at AWS re:Invent HPE and KT's New Partnership, which enables KT to offer a global managed SD-WAN service based on EdgeConnect, providing customers with a faster, higher-performance, and more cost-effective alternative to using MPLS networks to connect their global branches.

Optimizing IaaS Workload Connectivity

EdgeConnect provides automated branch-to-multicloud connectivity to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud, ensuring app-aware capabilities that enhance cloud-hosted applications across any transport network.

This ensures:

  • Provides consistent high performance for branch-to-cloud connections by applying granular QoS and security policies to automatically detect and address underlay performance issues without IT intervention.
  • Easy access to enterprise hosting applications hosted on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle cloud infrastructure providers, including automated orchestration of cloud backbone services.
  • Secure IaaS applications from security vulnerabilities and threats through network-wide security policy enforcement, drag-and-drop service chaining, and IaaS API integration with application segmentation.

Optimizing SaaS Application Experiences

The EdgeConnect SD-WAN platform includes several innovative software features to optimize SaaS connectivity:

EdgeConnect optimizes Microsoft 365 traffic by identifying applications using First-packet iQ application classification and automatically steers to the nearest Microsoft 365 entry point.

Improve the performance, quality, and availability of real-time apps by extending your EdgeConnect SD-WAN fabric to AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure.

Accelerate SaaS Optimization with AppExpress

AppExpress is the latest EdgeConnect SD-WAN innovation, a software feature that automatically selects the optimal path based on network conditions across network service providers, SSE PoPs, and cloud service providers like AWS and Azure, further optimizing SaaS traffic.

How does it work?
AppExpress leverages SD-WAN path diversity to automatically select the best path for each application, optimizing the user experience for business-critical applications like Zoom, Workday, SAP, and Microsoft 365.

This feature leverages synthetic polling and real-time user traffic observation data to intelligently adjust traffic regardless of how application traffic is classified.

This includes:

  • Local Breakout: Automatically selects the optimal link by efficiently routing traffic over links such as MPLS, Internet, and 4G/5G.
  • Steering optimized for IaaS: The system automatically redirects traffic to EdgeConnect SD-WAN virtual instances hosted on IaaS platforms such as AWS, Azure, etc., ensuring efficient data flow.
  • SSE PoP: AppExpress improves user experience by selecting the best SSE PoP (Point of Presence) that provides the best performance.

Advanced Multi-Cloud Networking

HPE Aruba Networking has invested resources to support unified connectivity to multi-cloud and add capabilities within its EdgeConnect SD-WAN platform.

For example, customers can deploy EdgeConnect virtual appliances in cloud environments to build overlay networks across all cloud services, including the “big five” of Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud, and deploy them from the HPE Aruba Networking Orchestrator.

Enterprises can now instantly build scalable access to a global multicloud network by connecting multiple cloud networks using the EdgeConnect SD-WAN MCN overlay fabric, as shown below.
